Storm Shelter Program to extend deadline for applications
Appointment needs to be made for assistance with application
OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Storm Shelter Program has extended its deadline for receiving applications.
According to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, which manages the program, applications for storm shelters are typically received until August 31.
However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and renovation and repair work at the MCN Department of Housing, MCN DANR has decided on a new deadline of Sept. 30, by 5:00 p.m.
DANR Office Manager Amy King felt it would be beneficial to the citizens to extend for another month.
“We want to give everyone another month due to the setbacks that we have had here,” she said. “We felt it was best to accept applications through the month of September.”
King said if citizens need to come in and get help with their applications, they will need to make an appointment beforehand.
“They can reach me at my office at 918-549-2555 or email me at email@example.com,” King said. “Either way will work.”
