Election Board

It is the purpose of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Election Board to maintain the highest level of integrity in conducting the Muscogee (Creek) Nation elections according to the election codes, title 19 of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation code and enforce the election codes in a responsible, impartial and unbiased manner.  Also to inform all enrolled registered voters of elections and promote voter registration throughout the Muscogee (Creek) Nation eight districts, as well as to the absentee voters outside the Muscogee (Creek) Nation boundaries.

The MCN Election Board meets monthly.

Candidate Filing Period: July 15th, 16th, & 17th 2019 – 9:00am to 4:00pm each day – Location TBD

Primary Election: September 21st, 2019

General Election: November 2nd, 2019

How to Register

Eligibility

  • Must be an enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation
  • 18 years of age & older

  • When filing out the registration form, please choose a voting district. If you live within the Creek Nation boundaries your district will be the district  in which you reside.
  • Please check the box for new voter.
  • If you are a new voter and an absentee voter check both boxes, this alerts the Election Board Registration Clerk you are a new Absentee voter.
  • Absentee voter when filling out the district you must choose one of the following MCN district with the MCN boundaries:

Creek District

McIntosh District

Muskogee District

Okfuskee District

Okmulgee District

Tukvpvtce District

Tulsa District

Wagoner District

Voter, make sure you sign your voter registration form. It can be faxed, mailed, or bought in person to the Election Board Office.

The Election Board is housed in the Solomon McCombs Building on the MCN Tribal Complex.

Hours of operation are between 8am – 5pm, Monday through Friday

Candidate Information and Qualifications

Principal Chief & Second Chief Eligibility

  • An enrolled citizen
  • 1⁄4 (one-fourth) or more Creek
  • 30 years of age
  • Reside within the Creek Nation boundaries one full calendar year (must prove residency)
  • Must be a Muscogee (Creek) Tribal registered voter six (6) months prior to filing as a candidate
  • No Felony ( a background check will be conducted)

National Council Representative Eligibility

  • An enrolled citizen
  • 1⁄4 (one-fourth) or more Creek
  • 18 years of age
  • Reside within the district on full calendar year (must prove residency)
  • Must be a Muscogee (Creek) Tribal registered voter six (6) months prior to filing as a candidate
  • No felony within the last ten (10) years ( a background check will be conducted)
