Community Outreach Program

Provider Training

The Office of Child Care provider training sessions for participating child care facilities to assist in maintaining and promoting quality child care. Our classes are approved by the State of Oklahoma and can be credited toward DHS licensing requirements for providers who are licensed by the Tribe and State. CPR and First Aid are taught by our staff and accredited by the American Red Cross for a nominal fee. Classes in Child Development, Nutrition, and Health and Safety are provided at no cost.

Resource and Referral

Resource and Referral services are provided to parents searching for child care arrangements. Specialists are knowledgeable about all forms of child care and respectful of parent’s child care choices. A monthly newsletter is mailed to parents and providers that include articles on parenting, child development, health and safety issues, training calendars and news from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and Office of Child Care. There is also a Resource Unit (RV) that providers can utilize with educational toys and other items for a month at a time free of charge. Also, on board the Resource Unit, is a copy machine and a laminator that the providers can use free of charge. The Resource Unit visits different communities within our service area.

We accept outside agency trainings with a copy of the certificate and the number of training credit hours. Books, reports, videos, or TV educational programs can also count for 1/4 of the required training hours. These types of training must be submitted with a one page report which includes: Title, Author, and an overall short summary of what is read or reviewed.
